Position - IT Operations Manager(Wintel Group) – Senior Level Role
Skills -
- Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
· Excellent project and stakeholder management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to manage and coach international teams; strong understanding of business requirements and customer service.
· Strong People Management Experience.
· Relevant work experience in ITIL (or equivalent) service operations, service design and continuous improvement
· Strong technical knowledge of relevant functional area(s) – e.g., Windows Server, VMWare, Citrix, monitoring tools
· Strong technical expertise with Windows (Windows 2003, 2008 R2, 2012), Active Directory. Strong Windows Clustering knowledge
· Strong technical expertise with VMWare ESX 5.0 and above
· Strong working knowledge of Citrix, Xenapp
· Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocol, routing principles and network security
· Experience with host security (e.g. passwords, uids/gids, ACLs, file permissions, file system integrity)
· Familiarity with data center operations best practices, ideally in a virtualized environment (VMWare, storage systems)
· Relevant MCSE/VCP certifications
· Technical knowledge of Altiris monitoring and software distribution
· Technical knowledge of storage concepts and IBM based SAN solutions
· Technical knowledge of Symantec security solutions
ROLE DESCRIPTION
- Accountable for Intel, VMWare and Windows based Operations Engineering in 100+ Offices and up to 17 core locations (Data Centers, Co- Locations, Virtual Point of Presence (VPOPs)). Manage a India & international team of Operations Engineers with strong focus on internal as well as cross team collaboration and project management within the technology area.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Service Design and Oversight: Close collaboration with support and development groups as well as leadership and stakeholders on Intel, VMWare and Windows related environment and technologies. Own the overall production readiness, maintenance, and IT change process for respective area, acting as the primary support interface for the Solution Development team. Act as an escalation point for high impact service issues of all kinds. Define and manage 3rd party vendor support contracts and service level agreements.
· Operational Stability: Ensure production stability by applying and maintaining ITIL (or equivalent) based change and problem management processes, overseeing problem ownership and managing capacity. Overseeing an effective housekeeping and maintenance management of the infrastructure. Prioritize and lead implementation and testing of failover and disaster recovery capabilities of devices and services.
· Service Lifecycle: Develop a service catalog; monitor and manage the usage and lifecycle of services including the retirement of old services
· Continuous Improvement: Identify service gaps and issues and ensure that the required solutions are developed and implemented.
· Act as business stakeholder for the support tools strategy in respective area
· Provide relevant, timely metrics to demonstrate service achievements, and highlight shortcomings and exceptions
