The Wintel (Windows on Intel) Senior System Engineer will be responsible for implementing, administering and maintaining Active Directory and other Microsoft technologies. The candidate requires both technical level experience and ability to interface with all levels of users. Performs all aspects of Wintel administration including hardware and software evaluation and installation, application security, backup and recovery planning, capacity planning, monitoring, performance and tuning, research and evaluation of new tools and techniques, and development of policies, standards and procedures related to the environment.
Position Activities
Perform day to day Tier 3 support activities for Window 2008/2012 Active directory.
Build and construct Windows 2008/2012 server systems.
Develop, document, communicate, and carry out procedures designed to facilitate recovery from application failure.
Perform quality assurance of all changes before they are approved for production
Develop and document best practices to ensure optimal performance, reliable backups, and security
Establish and document guidelines for server and application sizing and capacity planning
Establish High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and propose alternative Wintel architectures and solutions
Participate in technical evaluations of projects during the initiation phase to ascertain impact on existing systems, provide inputs on risks, analyze and propose solutions to potential technical issues that might hinder the project.
Participate in performance and regression testing of applications before they are promoted to production
Review the utilization of the production systems and systems in test, and propose architectural and operational changes to the environment, including but not limited to, tweaking the system and configuration parameters, increasing disk and memory, and running third-party software/systems to optimize capacity
Debug and fix problems in production environments and duly document and follow-up on permanent fixes with the technical teams
Develop metrics and generate reports to demonstrate performance of the various application components, showing trends and utilization levels on a regular basis
Perform other related duties as required
