The Role:
As a recognised expert in Windows technologies, you will be working as part of a collaborative Agile team, delivering innovative technology solutions that directly align with delivery of business value and enhanced customer experience. Elsevier are moving to the cloud and our "Cloud First" program will accelerate over the next 12 months providing a challenging and rewarding environment as we run multiple projects to leverage the benefits of AWS, Google and Microsoft Azure.
This role is transformational, we want you to apply your deep technical skills gained across technology platforms, but we want you to further develop your skills and knowledge to gain a broad understanding of cloud based provisioning, release management, scripting and automation as Elsevier moves its technology forwards at a rapid pace. The primary objective is to ensure continuous 24/365 availability across internal and cloud hosted products and services. Innovation and thought leadership will be valued alongside solid technical skills.
Responsibilities include:
* Platform support, change and release engineering internally and in the cloud.
* Incident, problem and change management in a rapidly changing and agile environment.
* Design, execution and lifeycle management across multi-platform environments internally and in the cloud.
* Administration of processes and policies designed to drive availability and ensure that our products and services are robust and secure.
You will be working closely with architects, development teams, infrastructure service providers, and cloud experts, all of whom have a global presence across multiple time zones.

Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field preferred
* Solid experience of working in complex Technology environments
* Indepth knowledge and experience of deploying, installing, configuring and supporting Windows (Win2000, Win2003, Win2008, Win2012)
* Understanding and experience of configuring and troubleshooting interfaces to the following databases: Oracle, SQL, MySQL
* Understanding and experience of configuring and troubleshooting interfaces to the following network technologies: Load Balancers, Firewalls, Routing, DMZs
* Understanding and experience of working with, configuring and troubleshooting interfaces to the following Enterprise IT infrastructure and concepts: PCI compliance, Enterprise Security, IT Service Management (ITIL, Service Desks, 24/7 Support, Service monitoring, reporting and alerting), Virtual Computing (VMWare), Project Management (PRINCE2 and Agile)
As stated we are moving across to the cloud as part of our "Cloud First" program, the following experience would be a bonus!
* Demonstrable knowledge and expertise of AWS or Google cloud technologies
* Experience of cloud migration activities either Public or Private, ideally both
* A good understanding of the security controls required to host applications and services in the cloud
* A good understanding of release management techniques within a cloud hosted environment
* Knowledge of scripting technologies and methods used within a cloud hosted environment
* Strong experience of managing/supporting cloud operations in a 24 x 7 environment - ideally high availability
